Hyaluronic Acid

Updated: Feb 6, 2023

What is this super sounding ingredient all about?

Well exactly that. This is definitely a SUPER chemical! You may have heard of this already, even seen weird pronunciations on TV adverts... Hyaluronic acid is widely used in skin products and rightly so.

Let me provide you with more factual information from my training sources so you can understand why skin therapists love this ingredient. Also let me teach how it is best to be used in concentration for maximum benefits!

Hyaluronic acid is a natural chemical made by the body and is found in the highest concentration within the skin. It's role is to retain water in the skin and provides plumpness and hydration to the skin cells themselves.

As with all wonderful things that comes with ageing... the natural production of hyaluronic acid slows. Resulting in more visible lines and wrinkles and less plumpness appearance in the skin . This super acid can hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water.

Hyaluronic acid is naturally made in the body. The body needs vitamin A to produce its own natural hyaluronic acid. Vitamin A is often lacked by many and even less production is made during the menopause. Magnesium also supports the body's production of hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid can be easily absorbed either directly onto the skin or through digesting it. It is easily digested because it doesn't need to be broken down. Like many other vitamin and minerals the digestive system can absorb them straight away to utilise them as necessary. Research studies by the clever scientists at the IIAA (international institute of active ageing) recognise its simple structure can be used to immediately support connective tissues such as joints, eyes and of course the skin. So you will agree that digesting and applying hyaluronic acid is beneficial all round. You will find this ingredient in skin care for dry and dehydrated skin concerns including eczema and psoriasis.
Fact: The only food source you can get hyaluronic acid from is bone broth.

With so much going on in our busy days it easy to slip into a routine of meals, drinks and snack favourites. Are you truly providing everything your body needs? Researchers will agree that even the healthiest diet can lack vital minerals or nutrients, essential fats and oils. As you discovered above, it is not just one mineral or vitamin you may be lacking. You need supporting vitamins /minerals for them to work effectively. That is exactly where quality supplements from trusted sources comes in. Removing the guess work or the trial and error loops. Removing the stress of getting the balance right and the comfort in ensuring your body gets what it needs, when it needs it.

Remember your body is amazing, yet it will require different things at different times, be it that by age category, seasonally and in times of Ill health or dis ease.
